Essential for reliability as it prevents knocking by cooling the intake air, especially when boost pressure is increased beyond the standard boost pressure of only 0.7 bar.
It increases torque and power throughout the rev range by allowing more air mass to enter the engine as the air is cooler.
For every 3ºC of lower air temperature, this is equivalent to 1% more power.
If we cool the air inlet to the engine by 30ºC, it means 10% more power, i.e. a gain of 12hp in the 100% standard engine.

Problem
The standard intercooler, apart from being small (half the size of this one), has another big problem: the air inlet and outlet are connected inside the intercooler, not cooling the pressurised air at all unless a flap through a thermostat is activated. This system does NOT work properly, and especially over the years, which means that the original intercooler does not cool the air, losing a large amount of power, in addition to the risk of pitting and engine breakage.
Solution
In addition to being made entirely of aluminium, and twice the size, this one has been manufactured so that the intake air ALWAYS runs through the matrix, installing a solid aluminium partition wall perfectly welded. In this way the pressurised, hot intercooler intake air is always cooled with maximum efficiency, improving reliability and extra power.
