Installation

With the original camshaft NO modification is necessary, although it is advisable to enlarge the holes in the cylinder head where the rods are located by at least 1.5mm radius. The original ones have a radius of 2.8mm and these tubular reinforced ones have a radius of 4mm, which reduces the distance to the wall by 1.2mm.

With higher lift camshafts it is necessary to enlarge the holes in the cylinder head where the rods are located. This is due to the fact that racing camshafts reduce the base circle, which causes the tappets to be lower and the rods to be closer to the wall, so it is recommended to enlarge them.

Detailed explanation

The original valve train is designed to run at a maximum of 6500 rpm with a stock shaft.

To improve valve control, reliability and power we must make the valvetrain (cup, valve, pushrod, tappet, rocker arm and valve) as light and stiff as possible.

These stiffer, stiffer and lighter pushrods will be needed when replacing the camshaft with a higher lift and more aggressive camshaft, or increasing the turbo pressure.

Because they are lighter and stiffer, they allow the valves to operate at higher rpm.

The weight and stiffness of the pushrods, as well as the weight of any element of the valve train limits the operation of the engine, causing that at a given rpm (around 6400 in this engine) the combined mass of the elements of the valve train overcomes the force of the spring, so that the valves would not close, no longer faithfully following the shape of the cam, causing knocking between the different parts and stressing them to significant levels of fatigue, which increases the wear of valves, seats, etc.
